That's a bit of a toss up for me. I love the books of course(I'm a bookworm)but the movies are great too. But I do have one problem with the movies; Peter Jackson omits or changes things that he doesn't like. Take the final LotR movie for instance. In the book Return of the King, we have the Battle of Bywater where the hobbits roust out the human invaders and Saurman. But that was omitted from the movie version. It wasn't even in the extended dvd edition. Peter Jackson simply didn't want to have it in the movie.
And now we have The Hobbit movie version. He's changing some things around in there. To lengthen the movie and give it more depth; so he says. I'll be going to see the movies(btw, why is it now THREE movies? Originally it was two but according to something on E! it's now going to be three)and see how much Peter Jackson jerked around with a classic. It'll still break the box offices. Bet you 6-1 that it will.

Yeah, I 100% agree with you on that. Like you said, the movies are great, but I really don't like when Jackson changes things up so much. Sometimes I wonder what Tolkien would have thought of it, and I think he would of never had his books made into movies in the first place.
Three movies from one book? I have no idea how that's going to happen.That already sounds like a big change from the book. Well the film industry did do two movies from a twilight and a Hp, why not try break the record? But yeah you're right it is a bit too much though...

I read in a magazine article that they're bringing Legolas and Galadriel into the movies when neither of them were in the book. There supposed to go more into what happened at the White Council meeting that drove the shadow out of Mirkwood, and if memory serves Galadriel was present at the meeting(though that gets mentioned in the LotR books and not The Hobbit), but still. That seems like a bit of a stretch. And Legolas is the son of Thranduil the king of Mirkwood; but again it's a stretch to have him in there.

I'm not surprised Legolas is going to be in it. It does sort of make sense to have him in there because since they're stopping by Mirkwood, why not add him in? 
I read online somewhere that Frodo is going to be in The Hobbit also.
Apparently in the beginning of movie one. Possibly even telling the story of The Hobbit to the viewers as if he were reading the book Bilbo gave him at the end of The Return of the King.

True that, It's also possibly going to be filmed in NZ again as with the other LOTR movies, but last year I heard that The country location could change, although that's a rumor. Think it's true?

Looks like the rumor is wrong, the filmakers selected NZ for the natural location and the beauty for the movie in the first place, so they still love it, just as I do, being born in NZ.... *sighs* I Love You Wellington City...

Does anyone know how far apart each movie will be when they come out? Because I get the feeling the first movie isn't going to have as much action in it, so I wonder how much long the fans have to wait until the second comes out, considering they're done all three movies now?

Let's see...... according the the site I posted a link to the first movie comes out Dec. 14th of this year, the second one will be sometime in 2013(Dec. 13th the site said, but anything can happen to change that), and the third one will be out in 2014(July 18th; but again anything can happen to change the actual date).

Totally. These better be darn good movies to space them out like this. And to turn it from a two-parter to a trilogy.
